SALEM, OR — Summer break is almost over.
The release of the new Madden is right around the corner, and that means it's time for 2K OLF to start getting everything back up and running for Season 36.
For our returning veterans, welcome back. Hopefully the time away gave everyone a chance to recharge, play some other games, enjoy the summer, and forget about whatever heartbreaking interception, blown coverage, missed field goal, or playoff loss ended your last season.
For everyone joining us for the first time, welcome to 2K OLF.
Over the next few weeks, things around here are going to start getting a lot busier as owners return, teams begin filling up, everyone gets familiar with the new Madden, and we prepare to officially kick off our 36th season.
New to 2K Online Franchise? Here's What to Expect
2K OLF is an online Madden league built around a core group of users who enjoy competition, community, and playing Madden in a structured league environment.
You don’t need to be an elite Madden player to belong here. We have users at different skill levels, and everyone is going to win some games and lose some games. What matters much more is being active, communicating with your opponents, playing your games on time, and being a good member of the league.
Our league operates on a three-day advance schedule, with advances taking place at 10:00 PM Pacific. During each league week, owners are responsible for scheduling and completing their game before the advance, as well as following our requirements for streaming/recording and reporting games.
You’ll quickly find that there’s more to 2K OLF than simply playing your matchup and disappearing until the next week. The league has been around for a long time because of the community surrounding it.
What New Users Should Be Doing Now
If you’re planning to join us for Season 36, now is the time to start getting familiar with everything.
First, make sure you’ve joined the main 2K OLF Discord server. That’s where the majority of league communication takes place.
Once you’re there, new users should make their way through the important onboarding channels:
#welcome - Start here and get familiar with the server.
#applications - Submit your application to join the league. We’ll ask for information including your PSN ID/gamertag, team preferences, age, timezone, how you found us, and what you’re looking for from the league.
#available-teams - Keep an eye on which teams are currently available as we begin putting together the Season 36 roster.
#league-rules - This is an important one. Take some time to read through the rules before the season begins. Knowing how the league operates before Week 1 makes things easier for you, your opponents, and the commissioners.
And don’t be afraid to talk.
Introduce yourself, join the conversations, ask questions, and get to know some of the owners you’ll be playing against. You don’t have to wait until the season begins to become part of the community.
Returning Owners: It’s Time to Check In
For our veterans, you already know the drill.
As we get closer to Season 36, we’ll begin confirming who is returning, filling available teams, going over any changes for the new Madden, and getting everyone ready for the upcoming season.
This is also a good time to start shaking off the rust.
A new Madden always comes with an adjustment period. New gameplay, new mechanics, new playbooks, things that worked last year that suddenly don’t work anymore-and probably at least one thing that everyone will complain is completely broken within the first 48 hours.
So get some games in, experiment, and start learning the new game.
Just remember: Madden release week isn’t Week 1 of Season 36.
We’ll have time to learn the game and make sure the league is ready before we begin.
Communication Is Everything
Whether you’re brand new or you’ve been here for years, one of the biggest things we ask from our owners is communication.
Life happens. Work happens. Family happens. Sometimes getting a game scheduled within a three-day window isn’t easy.
Communicate with your opponent.
If there’s an issue, let someone know.
Most problems are easy to work through when everyone communicates instead of waiting until advance night.
That applies outside of scheduling too. If you’re confused about a rule, aren’t sure how something works, or need help getting started, ask. We have plenty of longtime members who can help.
Season 36 Is Coming
It’s been nice having a summer break, but we’re ready to get the league moving again.
Season 36 represents another chapter for a league that has now been doing this for a long time, and we’re looking forward to seeing familiar names return while welcoming some new ones into the group.
There will be much more information coming as we get closer to the season, including team availability, returning-owner confirmations, league setup information, important dates, and eventually the official start of 2K OLF Season 36.
For now, get into Discord, get your application completed if you’re new, read through the league rules, start getting to know everyone, and get ready for the new Madden.
The summer break is coming to an end.
