The Bears came close on the road, but they were unable to get the win over the 49ers, losing 21-19.

>>It was over when…

Down by 8 points, 26 seconds left in the game, Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler manages to score a touchdown on a quarterback sneak play. Now down by 2 points, Bears had to convert a two point conversion. Jay Cutler out of the shot gun, dropped back, looked for an open receiver, tried to force the ball into the hands of WR Earl Bennett but it gets knocked down by 49ers safety Donte Whitner. Following an unsuccessful onside kick by the Bears the 49eers kneeled and walked away with another home win.

>>Game Ball:

Game ball goes to two key players this week. San Francisco OLB Aldon Smith and SS Donte Whitner. Smith had 6 tackles and 2 quarter back sacks. Whitner had 1 forced fumble and the critical 2 point conversion stop.

>>Noteworthy:

With the win the 49ers remain perfect at home, “Every game is important, it was an ugly win but we will take any win in this league.” said coach Nguyen during his post-game press conference. 49ers QB Payton Manning was asked how he felt about his play and said “Anytime we win or lose I always think I can play better but what matters at the end of the game is the win regardless of how we got it.”

For the Bears their road troubles continue, they are now 1-4 on the road and things don’t get much easier next week as they have to go on the road again to take on the Minnesota Vikings. When asked about his thoughts on his team’s performance Bears head coach Lovie Smith said “We’re disappointed, frustrated, we know we could of walked away with the win tonight, we’ll make some adjustments and be ready for next week.”

One other game note, the Bears were 1 for 6 on 3rd downs. Their only conversion came on a 3 and 8 late in the 4th quarter.
