London, England - The Houston Texans arrived at Wembley Stadium with a three-game winning streak and left London with another convincing result, defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars 20-6 in Week 6 behind David Montgomery's 108 rushing yards and a defense that limited Jacksonville to 199 offensive yards.
Houston built an advantage and gradually created separation in the international matchup, finishing with 357 offensive yards, 158 more than Jacksonville. The Texans held advantages through both the air and on the ground, while the Jaguars struggled to sustain offense and finished with only 11 first downs.
Montgomery supplied the most productive individual performance of the afternoon. He carried 17 times for 108 yards, broke a 39-yard run and became the game's only 100-yard rusher. Houston finished with 147 rushing yards overall, more than double Jacksonville's total of 70.
"I thought we stayed committed to getting positive yards and making them deal with the run," Montgomery said. "You want the big gain when it's there, but most of the job is taking what you can get and coming back ready for the next carry."
C.J. Stroud complemented that rushing output with a steady passing line. He completed 24 of 35 attempts for 210 yards, one touchdown and one interception, finishing with an 81.8 passer rating. His longest completion went for 28 yards.
Kayshon Boutte was Stroud's leading target, catching six passes for 72 yards and Houston's receiving touchdown. Nico Collins added three receptions for 49 yards. British Brooks accounted for the Texans' other touchdown with a rushing score while finishing with 25 yards on six attempts.
Houston did not turn every scoring opportunity into a touchdown. Across three red-zone trips, the Texans recorded one touchdown and one field goal. Even so, they remained the more productive offense throughout the afternoon at Wembley.
"There are things I'd like to clean up, especially the interception," Stroud said. "But we kept working, stayed patient and put together enough offense to keep the pressure on. David gave us a lot with the way he ran, and Kayshon was reliable when the ball came his way."
The largest efficiency gap appeared on possession downs. Houston converted 5 of 12 third-down attempts, while Jacksonville went 2-for-14. The Jaguars also failed on all three of their fourth-down attempts and came away without a touchdown or field goal on their lone red-zone trip.
Jacksonville split its passing production between Quinn Ewers and Trevor Lawrence. Ewers completed 9 of 23 passes for 80 yards and a 49.1 rating, with a long completion of 18 yards. Lawrence went 6-for-13 for 49 yards and a 56.2 rating. His longest completion covered 11 yards.
That left the Jaguars with 129 passing yards, compared with Houston's 210. Brenton Strange caught four passes for 33 yards, but Jacksonville did not have a receiver reach 35 yards. The limited passing production accompanied a running game in which no individual Jaguar reached 35 yards.
"Two conversions on 14 third downs isn't the standard we're looking for," Ewers said. "We didn't stay on the field often enough, and the passing game never developed the consistency we needed. Six points tells you there's a lot for us to examine."
Houston's defense finished without an interception but recorded three sacks. Henry To’oTo’o was credited with one of them as the Texans held Jacksonville below 200 offensive yards and to six points. The Jaguars' defense produced two sacks and intercepted Stroud once, but Houston still finished with 16 first downs and the clear yardage advantage.
The result extended Houston's winning streak to four games after the Texans entered Week 6 having won three straight. With Montgomery surpassing 100 yards, Stroud completing better than two-thirds of his passes and the defense allowing fewer than 200 offensive yards, Houston completed a 20-6 victory at Wembley Stadium.
Up Next
The Texans will return home in Week 7 to host the New York Giants and look to build on their four-game winning streak. Jacksonville will also return home for its next verified matchup, facing the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8.
