Jacory Croskey-Merritt rushes for 159 yards and 2 TDs as Washington Commanders beat Dallas Cowboys 33-14 in Week 2

Arlington, TX - Jacory Croskey-Merritt rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns, and the Washington Commanders finished with 422 offensive yards in a 33-14 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2.

Washington held the game's clearest statistical advantage on the ground. The Commanders rushed for 203 yards compared with 68 for Dallas, a difference of 135 yards. Croskey-Merritt accounted for most of that production on 18 carries, averaging nearly nine yards per attempt and recording a longest run of 46 yards.

"I wanted to be decisive with every carry and get everything that was available," Croskey-Merritt said. "When the team gets this kind of result and the run game puts up those numbers, you feel good about the work everybody did."

Jayden Daniels added an efficient passing performance for Washington, completing 22 of 27 attempts for 236 yards, one touchdown and one interception. His longest completion covered 28 yards, and he finished with a 100.0 passer rating.

Daniels distributed much of his production between Stefon Diggs and Chigoziem Okonkwo. Diggs caught nine passes for 96 yards and a touchdown, while Okonkwo finished with six receptions for 95 yards. Together, they supplied 15 catches and 191 receiving yards.

"The completions were there, and we had guys consistently giving us production," Daniels said. "There are still things to clean up, especially with the turnover, but completing that many passes and finishing with a win gives us something positive to build from."

The Commanders recorded 24 first downs and converted six of nine third-down opportunities. Their six red-zone trips produced three touchdowns and two field goals. Dallas was perfect in its two red-zone appearances, scoring touchdowns on both, but finished with eight fewer first downs overall. The Cowboys converted five of 11 third downs and one of three fourth downs.

Dallas finished with 294 offensive yards, leaving Washington with a 128-yard advantage in that category. Dak Prescott completed 17 of 34 passes for 210 yards, one touchdown and one interception, producing a 67.0 passer rating. His longest completion went for 24 yards.

Jake Ferguson led the Cowboys' receiving production with five catches for 90 yards. George Pickens added six receptions for 75 yards, while CeeDee Lamb caught two passes for 27 yards and a touchdown. Javonte Williams supplied 57 rushing yards on 13 carries and scored Dallas' other rushing touchdown.

"We weren't consistent enough, and I have to be better with the football," Prescott said. "There were some productive individual numbers, but the final score is the part that matters. We have to take an honest look at this and be sharper."

Neither defense held an advantage in sacks or interceptions. Washington recorded three sacks and one interception, while Dallas also finished with three sacks and one interception. Daniels and Prescott were each charged with one turnover through the air.

The difference was more pronounced in overall production. Washington combined its 203 rushing yards with an efficient performance from Daniels, finishing with 422 offensive yards and 24 first downs. Dallas generated 226 passing yards as a team but was limited to 68 on the ground in the 19-point defeat.
