Trevor Lawrence throws for 443 yards as Jacksonville Jaguars hand Cincinnati Bengals first loss, 42-36 in Week 4

Cincinnati, OH - Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars brought the league's most productive passing performance of Week 4 into Cincinnati and left with a 42-36 victory over the previously unbeaten Bengals.

Lawrence threw for 443 yards and three touchdowns, connecting with Jakobi Meyers and Parker Washington for 352 yards between them. Jacksonville built an advantage amid a steady exchange of scores, then absorbed Cincinnati's push to narrow the margin. The result ended the Bengals' three-game winning streak and dropped them to 3-1.

For Jacksonville, the victory reversed the direction of a season that had begun with one win and consecutive losses. The Jaguars finished with 531 offensive yards, including 443 through the air, and produced 17 first downs. Cincinnati countered with 423 offensive yards and 16 first downs, but the Jaguars walked away with the six-point edge on the scoreboard.

Lawrence completed 26 of 37 passes, posting a 126.2 passer rating despite Cincinnati recording an interception. His longest completion covered 80 yards, part of a downfield profile that repeatedly stretched the field as Jacksonville created separation and then protected its advantage against the Bengals' responses.

"We stayed aggressive and trusted the guys to finish catches," Lawrence said. "There were a lot of points going up, so the mindset was to keep working and not assume we had enough. To come into this game and leave with a win means a lot for us."

Meyers delivered the biggest receiving line of the afternoon, catching nine passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns. His longest reception went for 70 yards. Washington added six catches for 146 yards and a touchdown, including the 80-yard reception that stood as Jacksonville's longest completion.

The production gave Lawrence two receivers above 140 yards, with Meyers becoming the primary volume target and Washington supplying another major vertical presence. Jacksonville did not need a large rushing total to finish above 500 offensive yards, though Bhayshul Tuten contributed 54 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.

"The ball kept finding me, and my job was to give the offense as much as I could every time," Meyers said. "Parker was making things happen too, and when multiple guys are producing like that, everybody stays involved. We needed all of it with the way Cincinnati kept answering."

The Bengals' offense answered with a more balanced statistical profile. Joe Burrow completed 26 of 40 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns, finishing with a 103.7 passer rating. Cincinnati also rushed for 127 yards, compared with Jacksonville's 88.

Chase Brown led that ground game with 109 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries, averaging more than nine yards per attempt and breaking a run of 30 yards. Samaje Perine scored twice among his six carries, giving Cincinnati three rushing touchdowns between the two backs.

Tee Higgins paced the Bengals' receivers with nine catches for 89 yards and a touchdown. Darius Slayton caught two passes for 56 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown reception that accounted for Burrow's longest completion. Cincinnati remained productive enough to keep pressure on Jacksonville as the margin tightened, but it never erased the Jaguars' broader advantage.

"There's plenty on offense that we can build from, but the result is the result," Burrow said. "We scored touchdowns when we got down close, and we had production on the ground and through the air. We still finished six points short, and that's what we'll be thinking about."

Cincinnati was perfect on its three red-zone trips, turning all three into touchdowns. Jacksonville reached the red zone four times and came away with two touchdowns and a field goal. Neither team consistently controlled third down: the Jaguars converted 4 of 11 attempts, while the Bengals finished 3-for-13 and converted one of two fourth-down tries.

The defenses produced pressure without taking over a game dominated by offense. Jacksonville recorded three sacks and no interceptions. Cincinnati finished with two sacks and one interception, but still surrendered 443 passing yards to Lawrence and 531 offensive yards overall.

Jacksonville's win ended Cincinnati's unbeaten opening to the season and stopped the Bengals' winning streak at three games. For the Jaguars, a 42-point road performance delivered a needed Week 4 victory against a team that had not lost entering the afternoon.
