Jack Bech records 156 receiving yards as Las Vegas Raiders hand Kansas City Chiefs first loss, 31-23, in Week 4

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Raiders paired a balanced offensive performance with sharper red-zone finishing to knock the Kansas City Chiefs from the ranks of the unbeaten, winning 31-23 in Week 4.

Las Vegas finished with 422 offensive yards, including 307 through the air and 115 on the ground. Jack Bech delivered the biggest individual performance for the Raiders, catching 12 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown. His longest reception went for 30 yards.

The victory moved the Raiders beyond a routine early-season win. Kansas City arrived at 3-0 with a three-game winning streak, but left with its first loss and a 3-1 record.

"The opportunities kept coming, and I wanted to be dependable every time the ball was near me," Bech said. "Twelve catches means there were a lot of chances to contribute. The most important part is that we finished with the result we wanted."

Fernando Mendoza completed 27 of 40 passes for 307 yards and one touchdown, finishing with a 98.6 passer rating. Las Vegas supplemented that production with a 115-yard rushing effort, nearly doubling Kansas City's total of 60 rushing yards.

Ashton Jeanty handled the largest share of the work on the ground, rushing 20 times for 69 yards with a long gain of 19. Mike Washington Jr. added 29 yards on five attempts, including a 16-yard run.

"We had production in different areas, and that makes a difference in how you feel about the offense as a whole," Mendoza said. "Jack gave us a lot in the passing game, and the backs gave us useful yards on the ground. There are still things to clean up, but 31 points against an unbeaten team is something we can build from."

The clearest statistical difference came inside the red zone. Both teams made four trips, but Las Vegas finished with three touchdowns and one field goal. Kansas City recorded two touchdowns and two field goals on its four visits.

The Raiders also held modest advantages in first downs and offensive yardage. They recorded 22 first downs to Kansas City's 18 and outgained the Chiefs 422-394. Las Vegas converted 8 of 16 third downs, while Kansas City went 6 of 12. Each offense converted its lone fourth-down attempt.

Kansas City received another highly efficient performance from Patrick Mahomes despite the loss. Mahomes completed 28 of 34 passes for 334 yards, two touchdowns and a 127.2 passer rating. His longest completion covered 29 yards, and the Chiefs did not have a pass intercepted.

Rashee Rice caught both of Mahomes' touchdown passes and finished with six receptions for 82 yards. Xavier Worthy led Kansas City in both catches and receiving yardage, securing eight passes for 120 yards with a long reception of 29.

"There was a lot that was productive in the passing game, but the result is what stays with you," Mahomes said. "We got points on our red-zone opportunities, but we want more touchdowns there. When you lose by eight, those differences stand out."

Mahomes' accuracy and the work of Rice and Worthy gave Kansas City 27 more passing yards than Las Vegas. The Raiders, however, countered with 55 more rushing yards and 28 more offensive yards overall.

Neither defense recorded an interception. Las Vegas registered two sacks, compared with one for Kansas City. That left the game's statistical story centered largely on offensive efficiency, the Raiders' broader yardage distribution and the contrast in red-zone touchdown production.

Tyreek Hill added five catches for 76 yards for Las Vegas, giving Mendoza another productive option alongside Bech. Yet Bech's 12-reception outing stood apart: He accounted for more than half of the Raiders' 307 passing yards and was the only Las Vegas receiver credited with a touchdown catch.

For the Raiders, the result brought a third win in four games and came against an opponent that had not lost through the opening three weeks. For the Chiefs, strong numbers from Mahomes and two touchdown catches from Rice were not enough to extend their undefeated start.
