CINCINNATI, OH — After a disappointing first three games of the season where the offense continues to struggle and having trouble getting into any type of a rhythm, the front office decided it was time to add another piece on offense by acquiring WR Danny Amendola in exchange for rookie LT Cedric Ogbuehi. We got to ask Coach Miller what went behind this decision to acquire a new receiver and what he thinks he can bring to this struggling offense.
I think where Danny will help the team is he will help us move the chains. He has excellent hands and runs crisp clean routes, hes been in this league for a while now and he knows what it takes to help his team win ball games and he knows how to get ready to play week in and week out. We’re not sure yet where exactly what packages we will put him at first, but knowing him he will be ready to go if and when we call his number this week.
This trade might have been hastened by current WR Mohamed Sanu’s lack of performance on the field and most notably a terrible game last week where he made some big drops and terrible decisions. He saw himself during this week’s practice, leading up to a big division game, drop from the number two wr on the depth chart down to number three swapping spots with newly acquired Jermaine Kearse who is having himself a stellar year so far. It will be interesting to see if he slides down even farther if he has another poor showing this week. With the signing it might light a fire under him and make him rise to the challenge to perform better.
