LANDOVER, MD — It was a game in which the #1 offense would meet the #1 defense, but the question was which side of the ball could win the game for their team. Late in the first quarter the defense would make the first play of the game with an interception by legion of boom’s Kam Chancellor, but only to be called back by chancellor being off sides as well. The first quarter would end without the Seahawks offense not even stepping on to the field.
Early second quarter the Redskins offense would be on the field for 10 minutes 45 seconds. 2nd and goal RGIII would find Desean Jackson for the first score of the game 0-7. On the Seahawks first offensive possession the offense would drive to the Redskins 29 yard line only to kick a field goal 3-7. On the Redskins next possession RGIII would drive 57 yards in 9 plays that lead to the Redskins second touchdown. Late in the second on a 3rd and goal from the 7 yard line RGIII would find Leonard Hankerson for the score 3-14.
The Seahawks would get the ball to start the second half. Middle of the 3rd quarter on a 2nd and 6 play Russell Wilson would use his legs to get a 12 yard touchdown for the score 9-14. Seattle would attempt a 2 point conversion but would fail to get it. Redskins on their next possession would be forced to punt as the defense holds. Seattle on the next possession would manage only a field goal making the score 12-14. After a Redskins punt Seattle’s offense would make the next big play of the game. On a 1st and ten play from Seattle’s 45 yard line Russell Wilson would find Paul Richardson a rookie for a 55 yard touchdown for the score to take the lead for the first time in the game 19-14. On the next possession the Redskins would drive to the Seahawks 15 yard line only to turn the ball over as the #1 defense makes a crucial stop to try and close out the game. Late in the Fourth quarter 1:12 to go RGIII would throw across the field to find Desean Jackson for a potential touchdown but finds Byron Maxwell for a huge interception to potentially end the game. The Seahawks offense would only manage to chew 9 seconds off the clock before they had to punt. RGIII would have 45 seconds and 2 timeouts to score a game winning touchdown. 4th and 10 22 seconds to go on the Seahawks 28 yard line the #1 defense would hold the #1 offense as RGIII would throw an incomplete pass intended for Leonard Hankerson sealing the win for the Seahawks.
Lewis Johnson was interviewed after the win.
Reporter: “What does this win mean to you and the Seahawks as you move forward winning a tough game on the road after you’re bye week?”
Johnson: “It means a lot, we were all excited for this potential match up against a very tough team they’re offense is really explosive they’re defense is a tough group of guys and after having 2 weeks to prepare and getting a win like this, that’s championship football and I’m proud of our guys, Russell Wilson played a fantastic game for us, the defense played very well, and we’ll take this win learn from it and move on to the next opponent.”
