Season 5 – Week 4: Power Rankings

Another week is over and that means a new Power Rankings list is here! The trend this week for teams that were down last week is up, up, up! The big upset of week has to go to the 1-2 New York Giants taking on the 3-0 Washington Redskins, as no one gave coach Jeff Jarin and his Giants a chance but as someone once said, “You play to win the game!”

2		(4-0)	Last week: 2	W, 27-26 @MIN	The Falcons received a scare on the road vs. the Vikings last week coming away with a one point victory. It will be interesting to see how this team responds in the long run with the sudden loss of their head coach.
3		(3-1)	1 Last week: 4	L, 27-24 @KC	Relax Patriots fans. It was one game. One loss. An overtime loss at that. The Patriots are fine.
4		(3-1)	4 Last week: 8	W, 16-10 @SF	This past week was an ugly week for both the Eagles and 49ers. The Eagles managed to win the “less ugly” contest and come out on top.
5		(3-1)	6 Last week: 11	W, 27-24 vs. NE	Don’t hate me Chiefs fans. Yes I realize you just beat New England and thus “deserve” to be higher on this list. There is just something about your team, I don’t know what it is. Keep winning and you will gain my trust.
6		(3-1)	3 Last week: 3	L, 21-16 vs. NYG	Inside sources chalk up Thursday night’s loss to lack of prepartion on RGIII’s part. He was seen filming some more Subway commercials during the week. #Priorities.
7		(3-1)	2 Last week: 5	L, 16-10 vs. PHI	I had to double check the stat sheet when looking at the 49ers-Eagles game. The 49ers had 4 rushing attempts on the game…the game. I guess when your quarterback is throwing to the wrong jersey color that will happen.
8		(2-1)	2 Last week: 6	BYE	Perfect time for the bye week as they face the Broncos and Redskins in the next couple of weeks.
9		(3-0)	2 Last week: 7	BYE	Johnny Manziel was seen at Saturday’s Texas A&M – Arkansas overtime thriller. The Browns organization is happy that is only news to report on Manziel
10		(3-1)	2 Last week: 12	W, 21-0 @BAL	Now that is the kind of win Panthers fans wanted to see. Carolina dominated in all aspects of the game and spoiled Steve Smith’s reunion.
11		(2-1)	2 Last week: 13	BYE	Led by bookend tackles Andrew Whitworth and Andre Smith, the Bengals once again have one of the league’s most dominant offensive lines to pair with a defensive secondary that can give the Legion Of Boom a run for its money if they continue at this pace.
12		(2-2)	2 Last week: 14	W, 28-17 vs. GB	At 2-2 in the NFC North the Bears are tied for the top spot in the division. They have a tough stretch the next four games as their combined opponents records are 12-4.
13		(2-2)	2 Last week: 15	W, 21-7 vs. TB	The Steelers had some ground to make up with the Browns at 3-0 and they did just that by beating the Bucs last week. Next up on the block, Jacksonville. Steelers win again before their big matchup with Cleveland in week six.
14		(2-2)	3 Last week: 17	W, 21-16 @WAS	Just when you think the Giants are down they come out of nowhere and do what they just did to the Redskins. Fans calling for the coach’s head are now cowering in the corner.
15		(2-2)	3 Last week: 18	W, 17-7 vs. NO	The offense was the story against the Saints, but let’s not overlook that defense having its best game against a good offense. Now comes the Texas Bowl with the Texans
16		(2-2)	6 Last week: 10	L, 10-7 @NYJ	Bad loss this past week for the Lions. With the NFC North struggling they are still sitting ok but that game could have given them the kind of momentum needed to establish a foothold on the division.
17		(1-2)	1 Last week: 16	BYE	The offense hasn’t been as explosive as a year ago, but the defense is better. The Cardinals are a stiff test for Brock Osweiler.
18		(2-2)	2 Last week: 20	W, 10-7 vs. DET	Every single Jets game this season has been decided by seven points or less. This will be no different in week five as they face the San Diego Chargers who just lost to the Jaguars. Jets win again, putting their streak up to three.
19		(2-2)	9 Last week: 10	L, 21-7 @PIT	Panic in Tampa? A coaching change after week two has resulted in two straight losses. Look for the Bucs to bounce back this week vs. the Saints.
20		(2-2)	1 Last week: 21	W, 24-21 @OAK	Ryan Tannehill quieted a lot of people calling for his job by beating Oakland. It would have been a long bye week with a loss.
21		(2-2)	2 Last week: 23	W, 19-14 vs. TEN	Don’t get too excited Colts fans. While you may be on a two game winning streak you played the Jaguars and Titans, combined records of 2-6.
22		(2-2)	2 Last week: 24	W, 20-7 vs. BUF	At 2-2, how good are they? Does it matter? All that counts is the record. Their game with the Cowboys this week will tell a lot.
23		(1-3)	4 Last week: 19	L, 28-17 @CHI	Aaron Rodgers finally through his first touchdown pass of the season in week four’s loss to the Bears. The Packers will go as Rodgers will go.
24		(1-3)	2 Last week: 22	L, 17-7 @DAL	They have to turn it around quickly with that brutal schedule coming up. It’s time for a big game from Brees.
25		(1-3)	Last week: 25	L, 19-14 @IND	The gleam of that Week 1 victory over the Chiefs has faded with three losses. It’s going to be a long season.
26		(1-3)	Last week: 26	L, 24-21 vs. MIA	Because of an offseason plan to add a few veterans, this is a rebuilding team that has not started actually rebuilding yet.
27		(1-2)	Last week: 29	BYE	The Rams will be on the road this week as they match up with the (3-1) Eagles. This score might be closer than people think given that the Rams have had an extra week to prepare.
28		(1-3)	1 Last week: 29	L, 27-26 vs. ATL	Very nice effort by the Vikings but a loss is a loss.
29		(1-3)	1 Last week: 28	L, 23-20 vs. JAX	Embarrasing. Mortifying. Unsettling. Humiliating. Just a few of the words to describe San Diego’s loss to the Jaguars.
30		(1-3)	2 Last week: 32	W, 23-20 @SD	There is hope for the future in Blake Bortles. It’s the now that’s the problem for this team.
31		(0-4)	1 Last week: 30	L, 20-7 @HOU	The Bills are winless and now must take a tough road trip to Detroit. Has the sale of the team gone through yet?
32		(0-4)	1 Last week: 31	L, 21-0 vs. CAR	After the release of Ray Rice many wondered how this team would fare. I think we know the answer now.
