Peyton Manning Retires after one year with the 49ers
Yesterday Tom Brady announced his retirement, and today another legend is retiring: Peyton Manning is calling it quits after one season playing for the San Francisco 49ers.
“It was a great season here in San Francisco. Coach Nguyen was a class act, and I’m glad to have played for him. I just feel it’s time for me to walk away from the game I love,” said Peyton Manning during his retirement speech.
Coach Michael Nguyen spoke briefly to the media after Manning’s speech: “Crushed, thought he was gonna give it another shot and make a push for a Super Bowl win.” When asked if Alex Smith would be the starting quarterback next season, he replied: “As of now, yeah, but we’ll be looking into the draft also.”
With Peyton Manning and Tom Brady retiring on back-to-back days, they become the first pair of quarterbacks in 2K OLF history to retire after appearing in the same Super Bowl.
