Santa Clara, CA - The Seattle Seahawks extended their winning streak to three games by defeating the San Francisco 49ers 24-23 in Week 12, improving to 10-1 behind an efficient performance from Sam Darnold and a game-high receiving effort from Cooper Kupp.
Darnold completed 25 of 32 passes for 260 yards and one touchdown, finishing with a 110.9 passer rating. Kupp was his leading target, catching nine passes for 117 yards and a touchdown. His 29-yard reception matched Darnold's longest completion of the game.
Seattle entered the matchup at 9-1 and produced narrow statistical advantages across several categories. The Seahawks finished with 391 offensive yards to San Francisco's 371, recorded 17 first downs to the 49ers' 14 and did not throw an interception. Those numbers accompanied a result decided by the smallest possible margin.
"We were efficient and took care of the football," Darnold said. "There were still possessions where we would have liked to do more, but we kept giving ourselves opportunities to put points on the board. Against a team with that much talent, every one of those opportunities matters."
The Seahawks scored on each of their five red-zone trips, recording two touchdowns and three field goals inside the 20. San Francisco made four red-zone trips and finished with two touchdowns and one field goal. Neither team separated itself on third down: Seattle converted 4 of 13 attempts, while the 49ers went 5-for-13.
Kupp supplied the game's only 100-yard receiving performance. His nine catches were more than twice the total of any San Francisco receiver, and his 117 yards stood 50 above the 49ers' team-high mark.
"The targets were there, and my focus was just on being dependable every time the ball came my way," Kupp said. "Sam was accurate, and we were able to get production in different areas of the field. Winning by one reminds you how important every possession and every point can be."
Seattle also finished with 131 rushing yards. Jadarian Price led the Seahawks with 59 yards on 15 carries, while Zach Charbonnet added 49 yards on six attempts and broke a 26-yard run. Their production gave Seattle a slight advantage over San Francisco's 120 rushing yards.
Brock Purdy kept the 49ers productive through the air, completing 17 of 29 passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns. His day included the game's longest completion, a 67-yard touchdown connection with Christian Kirk. Kirk's lone reception accounted for a team-high 67 receiving yards, while George Kittle caught four passes for 42 yards and a touchdown.
Purdy finished with a 95.6 passer rating but also threw the game's only interception. Bud Clark recorded the takeaway for Seattle and returned it 16 yards. The Seahawks added two sacks, with DeMarcus Lawrence credited with 1.5 and Byron Murphy II with the remaining half-sack.
"There were good things in the passing game, but I also turned the ball over," Purdy said. "When the final margin is one point, you look closely at every missed opportunity. We moved the ball, and now we have to be more complete with what we do."
San Francisco's running game was led by Christian McCaffrey, who recorded a game-high 77 yards on 19 carries. He also had the most rushing attempts of any player in the game. Jordan James added 33 yards on five carries, including a 28-yard run, and scored a rushing touchdown.
The 49ers recorded two sacks but did not intercept Darnold. Their offense averaged nearly nine more yards per completion than Seattle's, reflecting the presence of Purdy's 67-yard strike, while the Seahawks completed eight more passes and finished with nine more passing yards overall.
Seattle leaves Week 12 with its third consecutive victory and a 10-1 record. San Francisco, which entered on the strength of a win and an even 5-5 mark, slipped below .500 with the one-point defeat.
