Jalen Hurts throws 3 TDs as Philadelphia Eagles beat Tennessee Titans 28-20 in Week 2

Nashville, TN - Jalen Hurts distributed the ball efficiently, Makai Lemon turned his opportunities into touchdowns and the Philadelphia Eagles left Nashville with a 28-20 victory over the Tennessee Titans in Week 2.

Hurts completed 32 of 44 passes for 274 yards and three touchdowns, finishing with a 111.3 passer rating. All three scoring receptions belonged to Lemon, who caught 10 passes for 78 yards. Saquon Barkley supplied Philadelphia's other touchdown while rushing for 106 yards on 17 carries.

Philadelphia built an advantage and spent much of the game protecting it rather than searching for a dramatic late rescue. Tennessee continued to apply pressure and narrowed the margin, but the Eagles maintained enough separation to finish with an eight-point win.

The broader statistical picture favored Philadelphia. The Eagles accumulated 426 offensive yards, nearly doubling Tennessee's 216, and recorded 23 first downs to the Titans' 12. They also went 10-for-16 on third down and converted all three of their fourth-down attempts.

Most importantly near the goal line, Philadelphia scored touchdowns on each of its four red-zone trips. The Titans were also perfect on their two red-zone opportunities, scoring touchdowns on both, but they reached that area half as often.

"We kept giving ourselves opportunities to finish possessions," Hurts said. "When we got close, we didn't settle. There are still things to clean up, but scoring touchdowns on all four of those trips is something we can build on."

Hurts leaned on two productive receivers in different ways. Lemon was the scoring target, while DeVonta Smith stretched Philadelphia's passing production across the field with nine receptions for 127 yards. Smith posted the game's longest reception at 30 yards and averaged more than 14 yards per catch.

Lemon's three touchdowns stood out within a high-volume afternoon in which none of his 10 catches went for more than 16 yards.

"I was getting chances to stay involved, and I wanted to be dependable every time the ball came to me," Lemon said. "The touchdowns are great, but the biggest thing is that we finished those opportunities with seven points."

The Eagles also had balance on the ground. Barkley averaged more than six yards per carry and broke a game-long rush of 21 yards. His 106-yard performance accounted for most of Philadelphia's 152 rushing yards, complementing the team's 274 passing yards.

"You want the offense to be able to work in different ways," Barkley said. "Jalen and the receivers had a strong day, and I tried to stay patient and take what was there. We had a lot of people contributing."

Tennessee's offensive production came in shorter bursts. Cam Ward completed 11 of 26 passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns, both caught by Carnell Tate. Ward also rushed four times for 32 yards, while Tony Pollard led the Titans on the ground with 78 yards on 16 carries.

Tate finished with five receptions for 52 yards, including Tennessee's longest completion of 24 yards. His two touchdown catches accounted for all of the Titans' passing scores and gave Ward a productive result despite a completion rate below 50 percent.

"We didn't have enough consistent production across the game," Ward said. "Carnell gave us finishes when we got into scoring range, and we stayed competitive, but 103 passing yards isn't where we want to be. I have to be sharper and give the offense more chances."

The Titans converted half of their third downs, going 7-for-14, and matched Philadelphia by finishing 3-for-3 on fourth down. Even with that perfect fourth-down rate, Tennessee generated 11 fewer first downs and 210 fewer offensive yards than the Eagles.

Neither defense recorded an interception, and each side finished with one sack. With takeaways absent from the passing game, the afternoon was defined more by the contrast in sustained offensive production. Philadelphia ran its passing game through Hurts' accuracy and a deep group of targets, while Tennessee finished with 103 passing yards and relied more heavily on its rushing output.

The Titans made the final margin competitive after Philadelphia had established its advantage, but the Eagles completed the day with four touchdowns, a perfect red-zone performance and their Week 2 victory.
