Baltimore, MD - The Baltimore Ravens created enough separation to withstand a late push and defeat the Los Angeles Chargers 24-23 in Week 10, extending their winning streak to five games despite three touchdown catches from Tyreek Hill.
The final margin was a single point, but the teams arrived there with sharply different offensive approaches. Los Angeles leaned on Justin Herbert and the passing game, piling up 299 yards through the air and 372 offensive yards overall. Baltimore countered with a more balanced attack, finishing with 215 passing yards and 134 rushing yards among its 349 offensive yards.
Baltimore built an advantage before the Chargers narrowed the gap, and neither side consistently separated in a game shaped by repeated exchanges. The Ravens finished with 17 first downs, one more than Los Angeles, while the Chargers converted 8 of 17 third downs compared with Baltimore's 6-for-14 showing.
Lamar Jackson completed 21 of 36 passes for 215 yards and a touchdown. He did not throw an interception and connected on the game's longest completion, a 39-yard gain. Baltimore also divided its rushing work between Jarquez Hunter and Adam Randall, giving the offense production beyond Jackson's passing totals.
Hunter carried 15 times for a game-high 72 yards. Randall added 58 yards on 10 attempts, including the game's longest rush at 32 yards, and scored Baltimore's lone rushing touchdown. Together, they accounted for 130 of the Ravens' 134 rushing yards.
"We weren't relying on one thing all game," Jackson said. "The passing numbers weren't huge, but the run game was giving us production and we stayed patient. Against an offense putting points up like that, every possession felt important."
Zay Flowers supplied Baltimore's biggest receiving plays. He caught four passes for a team-high 91 yards and a touchdown, with his 39-yard reception standing as the longest catch of the game. Mark Andrews worked underneath with seven receptions for 64 yards, leading the Ravens in catches.
"There wasn't a lot of room for either team to relax," Flowers said. "We knew they could score quickly, so the focus was on getting something out of every opportunity. It came down to a one-point result, and that tells you how little separated us."
Herbert kept Los Angeles moving through the air, completing 25 of 45 attempts for a game-high 299 yards and three touchdowns. All three scores went to Hill, who produced the most prolific individual performance of the afternoon even though the Chargers left Baltimore with a loss.
Hill finished with nine receptions for a game-high 145 yards, including a 36-yard catch, and scored three times. His combination of volume and scoring production accounted for nearly half of Los Angeles' passing yardage. The Ravens limited the rest of the Chargers' receiving options to shorter totals, but Herbert still finished with a 98.2 passer rating.
"When the ball came my way, I wanted to give us something with it," Hill said. "Three touchdowns is good production, but losing by one point is what stays with you. We moved the ball, and we still came away a little short."
Omarion Hampton provided 66 rushing yards on 15 carries for Los Angeles, including a 20-yard run. The Chargers finished with 73 rushing yards as a team, leaving Herbert and Hill at the center of an offense that generated more yardage than Baltimore but did not finish with the win.
The Ravens' defense recorded four sacks without intercepting Herbert. Los Angeles also finished without an interception and registered one sack against Jackson. That left the game without a takeaway through the air, even as Baltimore generated the larger sack total.
Inside the 20, Baltimore scored on each of its three red-zone trips, producing one touchdown and two field goals. Los Angeles made two red-zone visits and recorded one touchdown with no field goals. The Chargers were successful on their only fourth-down attempt.
"There are a lot of numbers you can point to, but the score is the one that matters," Herbert said. "We had production in the passing game and converted some third downs. We have to look at the whole performance because one point can come from anywhere."
Baltimore entered the week at 6-3 with four consecutive victories and emerged with another narrow result in its favor. Los Angeles arrived at 4-4 after a loss and now turns away from a game in which Herbert and Hill produced three touchdowns but the Ravens extended their run to five straight wins.
