CHARLOTTE, N.C. - It wasn't pretty, but the Dallas Cowboys found a way. Down 3-20 to start the fourth quarter, Dak Prescott and company mounted a furious late-game rally to stun the Carolina Panthers 24-23, securing their sixth straight win and staying atop the NFC standings.
Dead offense comes to life late
For three quarters, the Cowboys' offense looked lifeless. Prescott was under constant pressure, and the run game never found rhythm. But with 6:30 left, Jaydon Blue punched in a 2-yard score to pull Dallas within two possessions. Then, after DaRon Bland intercepted Bryce Young, Prescott found Javonte Williams for an 11-yard touchdown to make it a 23-21 game with 4:51 remaining.
Carolina managed only a field goal the rest of the way, and that left just enough time for Prescott's heroics. With 26 seconds on the clock, the veteran quarterback zipped a 7-yard strike to CeeDee Lamb for the game-winner. Brandon Aubrey's extra point capped a stunning 10-point fourth-quarter comeback.
Prescott stays poised under pressure
Prescott finished with 294 yards and two touchdowns on 29-of-47 passing, spreading the ball to eight different receivers. Tight end Jake Ferguson was his most reliable target with seven catches for 93 yards. Blue added 118 total yards and a rushing score, while Williams contributed both on the ground and through the air.
"We've got heart," Prescott said afterward. "No matter how ugly it gets, we believe we can finish."
Panthers collapse overshadows Bryce Young's big day
For Carolina, it was another gut punch in a season full of them. Bryce Young was spectacular early, throwing a 79-yard bomb to Tetairoa McMillan and rushing for 143 yards on six scrambles. Chuba Hubbard added a 14-yard touchdown in the third quarter as the Panthers built a 23-14 lead, but two turnovers and three missed red-zone chances doomed them down the stretch.
"We didn't finish," said head coach Dave Canales. "Against a team like that, you have to close the door."
Defense seals it
Dallas' defense, gashed by Young's legs for most of the afternoon, rose when it mattered most. Bland's interception swung momentum, while Kenneth Murray Jr. added another pick late to halt Carolina's final drive. Rookie edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku and defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey combined for 2.5 sacks as the Cowboys forced Young into hurried throws late.
