Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions suffer first loss of the season against the Carolina PanthersCharlotte,NC- A struggling Carolina Panthers 1-3 team on the road going up against a 4-0 Detroit Lions team that has been on fire all season, end result? A lopsided 31-3 victory for the visiting Panthers.  That’s why you play the games,  no one could have seen this one coming as the defense set the tone by recording 5 sacks and harassing Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford in the pocket for the entire game. Julius Pepper turned back the hands of time once again and recorded 3 sacks.

McCaffery takes it in for his third touchdown for the day.

The offense has finally started to look like they’re finding a rhythm, a big part of why is that it seems like Cam Newton is finally getting over his off season surgery, “It feels great, its getting better every week” Newton said after the game. It makes Cams job easier when they’re able to run the ball effectively.

Panthers HB Christian McCaffrey was busy on Sunday, he carried the ball 13 times for 60 yards plus 3 touchdowns, and he’s finally starting to show he can get those tough yards late in the game to help sustain drives. McCaffrey on his three touchdown performance “I feel like I’m finally starting to get the hang of being in the league.  Just figuring out how hard you need to practice and study to be ready to perform day in and day out, nothing is easy in this league and I’m starting to realize that.”

They’ll need all the momentum they can get as they go up against a 4-1 Philadelphia Eagles team that is looking like one of the teams to beat in the NFC this season. Hopefully the Panthers can hit the .500 mark and go on a run after this game!
