Chicago, IL - Breece Hall supplied a massive rushing performance, Geno Smith delivered an efficient day through the air and the New York Jets intercepted Caleb Williams four times in a 44-27 victory over the Chicago Bears in Week 4.

Hall rushed 22 times for 253 yards and three touchdowns, averaging more than 11 yards per attempt while accounting for 253 of New York’s 292 rushing yards. His longest run covered 53 yards, and he also caught three passes for 28 yards and a touchdown.

It was a broad offensive contribution from a player who finished with four touchdowns and 281 yards from scrimmage.

"When you get opportunities like that, you want to make every touch count," Hall said. "The production was great, but what matters is finishing the day with a win. There are still things we can clean up, but this is something we can build from."

Smith complemented Hall’s rushing output with accuracy and ball security. He completed 19 of 21 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns, posting a 133.3 passer rating. His longest completion went for 23 yards, and he added 38 rushing yards on two carries.

New York finished with 441 offensive yards, including 292 on the ground. The Jets recorded 18 first downs and converted 4 of 10 third-down attempts. Their eight red-zone trips produced three touchdowns and three field goals.

"The standard is to be accurate and take care of the football," Smith said. "I felt good about how we distributed it, and Breece gave us an incredible performance. When a guy is producing like that, everybody feeds off the confidence he brings."

Omar Cooper Jr. led the Jets with six receptions, totaling 54 yards and a touchdown. Kenyon Sadiq added five catches for 58 yards, with a 23-yard reception that matched Smith’s longest completion of the game.

The box score showed relatively narrow differences in first downs and offensive yards, alongside much wider gaps in rushing production and interceptions. Chicago finished with 404 offensive yards and 17 first downs, but the Bears rushed for 105 yards compared with New York’s 292. The Jets recorded four interceptions, while Chicago’s defense finished without one.

Williams generated 307 passing yards and two touchdowns, completing 23 of 39 attempts. He also threw four interceptions and finished with a 61.5 passer rating. His longest completion covered 50 yards.

"The yards and the touchdowns don’t erase four interceptions," Williams said. "That’s too many mistakes with the football. We moved it through the air, but I have to be much better about finishing possessions without giving the ball away."

Zavion Thomas was Chicago’s leading touchdown producer, catching five passes for 93 yards and two scores. His 50-yard reception was the Bears’ longest completion. Colston Loveland led the team with eight catches for 86 yards, while Rome Odunze contributed five receptions for 82 yards and had a long gain of 41.

Chicago converted 4 of 8 third-down attempts and its only fourth-down try. The Bears reached the red zone four times, recording one touchdown and one field goal. New York, by comparison, had twice as many red-zone trips.

Demario Davis collected two of the Jets’ four interceptions and totaled 31 yards on his returns. New York’s defense also recorded one sack. Chicago registered four sacks, giving the Bears a clear advantage in that category despite finishing without an interception.

"When the ball comes your way, you have to finish the opportunity," Davis said. "Four interceptions as a defense is something we can feel good about. We know takeaways demand focus, and today we came away with several of them."

The final score reflected New York’s highest-profile individual performances: Hall scored four total touchdowns, Smith threw two touchdown passes with only two incompletions, and the defense intercepted four passes. Chicago surpassed 400 offensive yards and had three receivers finish with at least 82 yards, but the Bears left Week 4 with a 17-point loss.

Up Next

The Jets will return home in Week 5 to host the Cleveland Browns and look to follow up their 44-point performance. The Bears will try to rebound on the road against the Green Bay Packers.
