Jacksonville, FL — The Jacksonville Jaguars announced this week that their star QB Blake Bortles will be sidelined for one or two more weeks as he recovers from a dislocated elbow. It was an injury he suffered in week two of the preseason against the Buffalo Bills. Bortles took off on a 29 yard run, but just as he got to the Bills four yard line he was drilled by the Bills’ free safety DeAngelo Hall. According to the Jaguars, Bortles landed directly on his right elbow, causing it to dislocate.

With Bortles out, the starting job for now will be handed over to Robert Griffin III. RG3 was picked up as a free agent this past off-season. “It sucks anytime you see a guy go out because of injury. I should know. Especially when it’s one of the leaders of the team….” said RG3 “…but I plan to go out there and do the best I can for this team while Bortles recovers.”

The best he can do will hopefully be better than what he showed in the preseason as RG3 struggled at times. He finished the preseason with 1 touchdown and 6 interceptions. Head coach Doug Marrone was asked if that was a concern “To be fair, three of those interceptions were in the final game of preseason. It was a game in which he didn’t have much help, add to that, that he is still learning our system. However, I do expect him to be fully ready for the opener. He’ll have enough practice to get to know our system better and get to know the guys that will be out there on the field with him.”

The Jaguars will host last season’s NFC East champs, the Philadelphia Eagles this Wednesday night.
