Las Vegas, NV - Devon Witherspoon intercepted three passes, Sam Darnold finished with a 112.0 passer rating and the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 31-14 in Week 10.
The Seahawks entered the matchup at 8-1 and strengthened that record with a performance defined by defensive production and offensive efficiency. Seattle intercepted five passes, recorded three sacks and converted six of 10 third downs while improving to 9-1.
Las Vegas actually finished with more first downs, 18-15, and the offensive-yardage totals were nearly even. Seattle gained 298 offensive yards, compared with 293 for the Raiders. The final margin stood in sharp contrast to those narrow statistical differences, with the interception totals providing the most striking divide between the teams.
Witherspoon accounted for three of Seattle's five interceptions and returned them for a combined 50 yards. Ernest Jones IV added another interception, two return yards and three pass deflections. DeMarcus Lawrence supplied two of the Seahawks' three sacks.
"When the ball is there, you have to finish it," Witherspoon said. "Three for me and five for the defense says we were ready to take advantage of those opportunities. Everybody was involved, whether it was getting a hand on the ball or completing the catch."
Aidan O’Connell completed 18 of 33 passes for a game-high 229 yards and one touchdown, but he also threw four interceptions and finished with a 46.9 passer rating. Dillon Gabriel attempted one pass and was intercepted, accounting for Las Vegas' fifth interception of the game.
"The yards don't mean enough when you give the other team the ball that many times," O’Connell said. "That's the part that is frustrating. We had production in some areas, but I have to be much better with the football."
Darnold gave Seattle an efficient passing line, completing 16 of 23 attempts for 207 yards and a touchdown. His longest completion covered 36 yards, the game's longest, and Rashid Shaheed was on the receiving end of a game-long 36-yard reception. Shaheed finished with two catches for 53 yards.
A.J. Barner led the Seahawks with 78 receiving yards, catching five passes and scoring a touchdown. Cooper Kupp also made five receptions, totaling 54 yards, as Seattle spread its passing production among several targets.
"We didn't need to force everything into one area," Darnold said. "The completions were there, the run game gave us production, and we stayed efficient on third down. That's a good formula to take from this game."
The ground game featured the top rushing performance of the afternoon. Jadarian Price carried 17 times for a game-high 87 yards and two touchdowns, including a game-long 35-yard rush. Seattle finished with 91 rushing yards as a team.
Price's 17 attempts were also the most by any player in the game, giving Seattle a clear lead option in its backfield. His two rushing touchdowns joined Barner's receiving score among the Seahawks' offensive highlights. Seattle made six red-zone trips and came away with three touchdowns and one field goal.
Las Vegas converted two touchdowns on three red-zone trips. Connor Heyward scored on the ground, while Brock Bowers caught O’Connell's touchdown pass as part of the game's most productive receiving performance.
Bowers caught seven passes for a game-high 115 yards, including a 30-yard reception. His combination of volume and yardage gave the Raiders a reliable centerpiece in the passing game despite the turnover total.
Dylan Laube contributed in both phases of the Las Vegas offense. He rushed 15 times for a team-high 69 yards and caught five passes for 51 yards. His 120 yards from scrimmage complemented Bowers' production, though the Raiders finished 4-for-8 on third down and 1-for-2 on fourth down.
"There were good numbers in parts of the game, but the result is what matters," Bowers said. "We moved the ball and had some individual production. We also know there are areas that have to be cleaner if we want a different outcome."
For Seattle, the victory added another win to a strong opening 10-game stretch. The Seahawks left Las Vegas at 9-1 after pairing Darnold's efficient passing, Price's two rushing touchdowns and a five-interception defensive performance. The Raiders fell to 6-4.
