LAS VEGAS - Tennessee leaned into smashmouth football and a ball-hawking secondary, and the formula throttled Las Vegas. Behind 223 rushing yards and five interceptions forced, the Titans beat Max Farias' Raiders 30-14 at Allegiant Stadium, moving both clubs to 3-3 after entering at 2-3 and fresh off losses.

How it happened

Joey Slye opened the scoring with a 36-yard field goal late in the first quarter, then L'Jarius Sneed flipped the game with a 91-yard pick-six just before halftime, staking Tennessee to a 10-0 lead at the break.

Daniel Carlson's 22-yarder finally put Las Vegas on the board in the third, but Slye answered from 31 yards for a 13-3 edge. The fourth quarter belonged to Tennessee: Carlson hit from 50 to make it 13-6, Slye stretched it to 16-6 from 49, and then the Titans landed two haymakers-an 8-yard touchdown by Kalel Mullings with 4:34 left and an 87-yard keeper by quarterback Cam Ward at 2:22. Kenny Pickett's 14-yard strike to Brock Bowers plus a two-pointer to Jakobi Meyers trimmed the margin, but the deficit was too steep.

Takeaways

  • Titans D feast: Geno Smith threw five interceptions, including Sneed's score; Amani Hooker, Roger McCreary, Cody Barton, and Quandre Diggs snagged the others, and Diggs also forced a fumble.
  • Ground and pound: Tennessee passed for just 58 yards but steamrolled for 223 on the ground-100 from Mullings and 91 from Ward.
  • Volume without payoff: The Raiders piled up 456 offensive yards and converted 60% on third down, but five giveaways and 1-for-2 red-zone touchdown efficiency told the story.
  • Specialists deliver: Slye went 3-for-3 on field goals (36, 31, 49) and perfect on PATs; Carlson hit from 22 and 50.

What they said

"We knew if we stayed patient, the runs would pop-and our defense kept handing us chances," Ward said. Farias lamented the turnovers: "You can't spot a team five extra possessions and expect to win."

By the numbers

Tennessee: 281 total yards (223 rushing), 5 takeaways. Las Vegas: 456 total yards (386 passing), 5 giveaways.
