LAS VEGAS, NV — After suffering their first loss of the season last week, the Las Vegas Raiders rebounded with a gritty 20-14 victory over the Washington Commanders in Week 6. The Raiders improved to 5-1 with the win, while the Commanders fell to 2-4 after failing to capitalize on a fourth-quarter rally. Las Vegas controlled much of the game with efficient play on both sides of the ball, while Washington struggled to find consistency on offense.

Game Recap

The Raiders wasted little time getting on the board as Imani Younger capped off a strong opening drive with a 1-yard touchdown run, putting Las Vegas up 7-0 early. Washington responded in the second quarter with a spectacular 33-yard rushing touchdown from Jayden Daniels, tying the game at 7-7. However, the Raiders answered right back when Brock Bowers hauled in a 7-yard touchdown pass from Aidan O’Connell to regain the lead. Just before halftime, Daniel Carlson drilled a 39-yard field goal to send Las Vegas into the break with a 17-7 advantage.

Defense took over in the third quarter, with neither team managing to score. The Raiders extended their lead in the fourth quarter when Carlson converted a 22-yard field goal, making it a two-possession game at 20-7. Washington made a late push as Brian Robinson Jr. powered his way into the end zone on a 5-yard run to cut the lead to six with just over six minutes remaining. However, the Raiders’ defense stepped up in the closing minutes, forcing a turnover on downs to seal the win.

Key Stats

O’Connell was nearly flawless, completing 25 of 28 passes for 216 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. Younger carried the load in the running game, finishing with 100 rushing yards and a touchdown on 26 carries.
