Coach Michael Nguyen is no stranger to these big press conferences introducing his starting quarterback. Just last season we all witness the future Hall of Fame Peyton Manning take the podium in Santa Clara, Ca. As he saw one window close he opens up another. Smiling ear to ear he anxiously introduced Matthew Stafford to the Bay Area media and Stafford wasted no time explaining why he decided to come here and what he expects to accomplish.
” I would like to thank coach Nguyen for giving me this opportunity to showcase my talents. I had a few offers on the table but when my agent told me the 49ers were interested in signing me it didn’t take long for me to make a decision. I played against these guys in the NFC Championship at Candlestick and boy are they good. I’m just happy I am apart of something special going on here in the Bay Area. It looks like almost all the core on defense and offense are returning for another run and I am here to get them over the hump. There’s no secret in me, everyone knows I’m a gunslinger and that is exactly what I tend to do.”
Matthew Stafford lead the league in passer rating with a whopping 133.1 he threw for 3,432 yards with 33 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Along with Stafford they were also able to sign Joshua Cribbs a WR/Return Specialist and Early Doucet, giving Stafford more toys to play with.
” This is kind of like deja vu, I am just really blessed to have two terrific Quarterback so far in my young coaching career. I’m excited to see what Matthew can bring to this team. I know the team, the city, and the faithfuls are really excited about this upcoming season. We know if we want to make it back to the Super Bowl we need to work even harder than we did last year. That pretty much wraps up free agency for us now we’re turning our focus to the upcoming draft and then on to the season. See you guys soon and be safe!”
