MIAMI GARDENS, FL - Thursday Night Primetime belonged to Miami's speed and precision. Riding a three-game win streak into Week 9, the Dolphins (now 8-1) punched first and never flinched, beating the Baltimore Ravens 34-17 behind a four-touchdown masterpiece from Tua Tagovailoa and a vintage explosion from Tyreek Hill. Sean Nguyen's club stacked 391 yards of offense and went 4-for-7 on third down, while John Harbaugh's Ravens (6-2) were held to just 169 offensive yards.
Tyreek turns primetime into a track meet
Hill caught six passes for 126 yards and all four Miami touchdowns, sealing the night with a 76-yard sprint down the right sideline with 3:08 left. Earlier, he struck from 4 and 17 yards in the second quarter and from 5 yards at the third-quarter horn. "When the ball's out on time, it's just trust and run," Hill said. "Tua put it where only I could get it." Hill finished 6-126-4 on six targets.
Tua dials it up, line keeps him clean
Tagovailoa was ruthlessly efficient: 24-of-33 for 299 yards, four touchdowns and one interception-and he was not sacked. "Protection was outstanding," Nguyen said. "When Tua can work in rhythm, our whole playbook opens up." Miami's front also paved enough balance for De'Von Achane (17 rushes, 93 yards) and a tidy 92 rushing yards overall. Kicker Riley Patterson added field goals of 46 and 22 yards and hit all four PATs.
Defense dents Baltimore's rhythm
Baltimore's only touchdown drives came on a 14-yard Rasheen Ali run late in the second quarter and a 5-yard Keaton Mitchell catch from Cooper Rush in the fourth. Miami's pass rush piled up four sacks-led by Jaelan Phillips (2.0)-and surrendered only 102 passing yards. "We were disciplined on the edges and kept the quarterback off schedule," said Phillips. The Ravens did force three fumbles and made one interception to hang around, but could not flip the field enough against Miami's defense.
Turning point
After Baltimore closed to 27-17 with 4:03 remaining, Miami needed one play to slam the door-Tagovailoa's 76-yard strike to Hill over the top. "That ball was gone before I hit my back foot," Harbaugh said. "We were a step late, and against that speed a step is a mile."
By the numbers
Miami out-gained Baltimore 391-169 in total offense, went 4-for-7 on third down and 1-for-1 on fourth, and scored on four of seven red-zone trips. Baltimore finished 3-for-12 on third down and 2-for-3 in the red zone.
Up Next
The Dolphins continue their home stand at Hard Rock Stadium for a Week 10 showdown with the Buffalo Bills. The Ravens stay on the road for Week 10 to face the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium.
