Bengals Fire Head Coach, Mark Miller

Cincinnati,Ohio — After just 2 seasons of non playoff winning football for coach Miller, the Bengals have decided to part ways with their head coach.  We were able to get a few answers at his press conference today about what went into this decision and how he felt about it.

First and foremost I would like to thank the entire Bengals organization for the opportunity and support in trying to create a winning culture. They gave me free reign on all the decisions and backed me all the way 100% of the time, it just so happens that in this third year, when we had all the pieces seemingly in place to make a run it just never materialized. Whether it was giving the lead up in the final couple minutes or not making that clutch third down to keep moving the chains, a lot of things went wrong this year on the offense and defense this year and I’m to blame for not getting my team ready to compete each and every week. I think I fell into the hype a little myself and I kind of went lax on the guys and look we didn’t even sniff the playoffs. I wasn’t offended or upset with their decision I could understand how after 2 years of total control I wasn’t able to put a winning team out on the field and get into a deep playoff run, which was something that was expected of me in my 2nd year of my contract. It was a pleasure and honor to be a part of this great organization.

One has to wonder how much fault was to blame on coach Miller, who didn’t have any semblance of a running game this year and a passing game that was average at best, either way you like at it coach Miller sure did put the excitement back in Bengals football and i wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.

Nuggets and Tidbits

The Bengals currently have no interviews set up for a new head coach, but the normal suspects pop up, like Tony Dungy , Bill Cowher , and Jon Gruden.

Word from around the league is Coach Miller already has several interviews lined up currently with Detroit Lions , Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee Titans, and the Carolina Panthers. It is expected that he will sign with Carolina within the next couple weeks.
