The Vikings know they had the 49ers right where they wanted them, but in the end they fell short of their goal.

It was over when:
With 1:56 left in the 4th quarter, the Vikings trailed the 49ers 21-28, 49ers HB Kendall Hunter took a handoff from QB Matthew Stafford and took of on a six yard run for a touchdown to give the 49ers a two score lead. Things looked bleak for the Vikings, but the Vikings would not give up.

Following the kickoff by the 49ers, the Vikings would start off on their own 30 yard line and thanks to their QB Christian Ponder managed to get to the other side of the field with 46 seconds left. On 3 and 10 from the 49ers own 30 yard line Christian Ponder dropped back and found WR Jarius Wright cutting across the middle, Wright then caught the ball and took it in for a touchdown.

The Vikings now down by 7, lined up for an on-side kick. Vikings punter Chris Kluwe kicked the ball, made it hop once and as it went towards the outside of the field it was 49ers WR Demaryius Thomas who recovered the ball.

All that was left was for the 49ers to do was take a knee and watch time run out as they once again move on to the NFC Championship.
