For the San Francisco 49ers this is a journey that began as soon as 2K OLF Super Bowl I ended. “It was one of the worst feeling in the world, to get so close and lose the way we did…It’s something that haunted me the entire off season” said 49ers head coach Michael Nguyen.
The 49ers off season was also one that shocked the league when their future hall of fame quarterback Payton Manning announced he was retiring, it was something that caught the 49ers by surprise. The 49ers looked like they might be in trouble going into season 2, but like any good team, did not panic and instead they signed quarterback Matthew Stafford. Stafford and coach Nguyen began the season on a mission! They started the season with a 7 game unbeaten streak, won the NFC West and ended the season with a record of 12-4.
The New England Patriots ended the season celebrating their first 2K OLF Super Bowl I win, it was an amazing game that had it all, but the celebration would be short lived. Just one week after winning the Super Bowl, the Patriots, New England and the rest of the league were shocked when Tom Brady announced his retirement. “It was a shocker to say the least….” said Patriots coach Sean Nguyen who continued saying “It was just a week ago we had won the Super Bowl and then out of no where you get news like that. We respect Tom’s decision and all that he does, he wanted to go out on top, win it all and ride of into the sunset and that’s just what he did.” With Tom Brady gone the league knew the Patriots would make big news as the off season continued and that big news came in the form of “Big Ben” Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger had been traded by the Steelers to the Cardinals just days before getting traded again to the Patriots. Like Stafford to the 49ers, Roethlisberger helped coach Sean Nguyen win the AFC East and finished the season with a record of 12-4.
