WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Commanders are throwing it back in style.
Ahead of the upcoming Season 33 campaign, Washington revealed a brand-new alternate uniform inspired by the franchise's glory years-a look that echoes the iconic style worn during their deep playoff run in Season 18, when the team reached the 2K OLF Super Bowl XVIII before falling to the New England Patriots.
The new uniform features a crisp white jersey with burgundy and gold accents, burgundy pants with triple striping, and a gold face mask. While the throwback design draws inspiration from the past, the helmet keeps the modern "W" logo intact, blending eras for a look that honors history without ignoring progress.
"We're excited to reconnect with the tradition that defined this franchise," said team president Mark Clouse. "This alternate set is a celebration of everything our fans loved during the Super Bowl era-and a signal of where we're headed."
A Journey Through Identity
Washington has undergone several identity changes over the league's history. They were known as the Redskins up through Season 19, became the Washington Football Team from Seasons 20 to 25, and officially adopted the Commanders name in Season 26.
This new alternate uniform pays homage to their earliest identity-the one they wore when they pushed through the playoffs in Season 18 under head coach Nick Blanco. That year, Washington shocked the league with a Cinderella run that ended just short of a title.
