FOXBOROUGH, MA - The Pittsburgh Steelers survived a furious fourth-quarter rally by the New England Patriots, pulling out a 34-32 road win behind a dominant performance from Jaylen Warren and timely plays from Aaron Rodgers.
Game Recap
New England opened the scoring on a 1-yard touchdown plunge by Rhamondre Stevenson, but Pittsburgh answered with an explosive second quarter. Jaylen Warren ripped off a 69-yard touchdown run and later added another score from 12 yards out. "Once I hit the hole, I just trusted my speed," Warren said of the long run. "We wanted to set the tone physically, and I think we did that." Moments later, Aaron Rodgers connected with Pat Freiermuth for a 13-yard touchdown to give the Steelers a 21-7 halftime lead. Rodgers praised the tight end afterward: "Pat's one of those guys you can trust in tight windows. He made a huge play when we needed it."
The Patriots battled back as rookie quarterback Drake Maye found Hunter Henry for a third-quarter touchdown. "Drake just kept his composure," Henry said. "We felt like we could climb back into it." Still, Rodgers and wideout Calvin Austin countered with a 51-yard strike that quieted the Foxborough crowd.
In the fourth, Maye kept New England alive, scrambling for a 17-yard score with a two-point conversion to Stevenson and later hitting Stefon Diggs from four yards out. "We showed fight all the way to the end," Maye said. "But we can't spot a team like that 21 points and expect to win." Warren's third touchdown-a 5-yard run-proved to be the difference despite a missed PAT, as Pittsburgh's defense forced a late stop to secure the win.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin praised his team's resilience: "We knew it would take four quarters, and I loved how our guys responded in the biggest moments." Patriots coach Jerod Mayo was direct in his postgame remarks: "We can't keep digging ourselves holes. I'm proud of the way we fought, but moral victories don't count in this league."
