ATLANTA, GA — The New Orleans Saints delivered a dominant performance on both sides of the ball, securing a crucial 24-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Quarterback Jason Logan led the charge with a stellar 358-yard, three-touchdown performance, while the Saints’ defense held the Falcons’ offense in check.
Game Recap
The Saints entered the matchup with a 1-2 record, coming off their first win of the season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They wasted no time asserting themselves, with Rashid Shaheed opening the scoring on a 41-yard touchdown reception. New Orleans extended their lead in the second quarter when Logan connected with Chris Olave for a 73-yard touchdown, sending the Saints into halftime with a comfortable advantage.
Atlanta, which had started the season with a Week 1 win over the Seattle Seahawks before dropping two straight games, struggled to find offensive consistency. Their first three scoring drives resulted in field goals from Younghoe Koo. Their lone touchdown came late in the fourth quarter, with Bijan Robinson punching in a short-yardage score.
Key Stats
Jason Logan was nearly flawless, completing 22 of 31 pass attempts for 358 yards and three touchdowns. Kendre Miller led the Saints’ ground attack with 14 carries for 50 yards and a touchdown. Rashid Shaheed stood out in the passing game with six receptions for 86 yards and two touchdowns, while Chris Olave added three catches for 105 yards and one touchdown. The Saints’ defense was relentless, totaling four sacks and two interceptions, with Marshon Lattimore and Phillip Basnight each recording a pick.
Michael Penix Jr. had a rough outing for Atlanta, completing just 16 of 39 passes for 215 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. Bijan Robinson provided a spark, rushing 15 times for 82 yards and a touchdown. Kyle Pitts led the Falcons’ receiving corps with five catches for 79 yards. The Falcons’ defense managed three sacks and forced a fumble, but it wasn’t enough to slow down the Saints’ explosive offense.
Turning Point
The Saints’ defense set the tone early, forcing multiple red-zone stops and capitalizing on two key interceptions. A strip-sack by Chase Young in the third quarter gave New Orleans prime field position, leading to another Logan touchdown pass to Shaheed that effectively put the game out of reach.
Up Next
The Saints (now 2-2) will continue their three-game road trip next week with a visit to the New York Giants. Meanwhile, the Falcons (also 2-2) will look to snap their losing streak as they travel to face the Carolina Panthers.
