LAS VEGAS, NV — In a fiercely contested AFC West showdown, the Las Vegas Raiders defended their home turf, edging out the Kansas City Chiefs with a 31-24 victory at Allegiant Stadium. Behind a poised performance from rookie quarterback Trent Carney and a playmaking defense, the Raiders moved to 2-0 on the season.

Game Recap

The Raiders started fast and finished strong, capitalizing on timely turnovers and clutch offensive plays. Rookie Trent Carney shined in his second career game, throwing for three touchdowns while avoiding mistakes. “It feels great to play a role in this win,” Carney said postgame. “The coaches put me in a position to succeed, and I just tried to execute.”

For the Chiefs, veteran quarterback Patrick Mahomes kept his team competitive with three touchdown passes, but two interceptions proved costly. “We’ve got to be better as a team,” said Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. “Mistakes like that can’t happen against a division rival.”

Rookie running back Taj Tarpley showed promise for Kansas City, churning out tough yards against a stout Raiders front. However, the Raiders’ rookie receiver Pierre Briggs stole the show with his first career touchdown reception, drawing cheers from the home crowd.
