LAS VEGAS, NV — The Las Vegas Raiders dominated from start to finish, defeating the Los Angeles Chargers 34-14 at Allegiant Stadium in Week 3. Behind a balanced offensive attack and a suffocating defense, the Raiders showcased their AFC West strength, improving to 4-1 on the season.
Game Recap
The Raiders wasted no time establishing their dominance, with running back Imani Younger finding the end zone twice in the first half. A 4-yard touchdown run in the first quarter set the tone, followed by a 2-yard score early in the second quarter. Quarterback Trent Carney kept the pressure on, tossing a 3-yard touchdown to receiver Tre Tucker just before halftime to give Las Vegas a commanding 24-7 lead.
The Chargers managed a bright spot in the second quarter with a 55-yard touchdown strike from Justin Herbert to rookie wideout Quentin Johnston. However, the Chargers’ offense sputtered under relentless pressure from the Raiders’ defensive line, which sacked Herbert three times.
Carney added to the lead in the third quarter with a 2-yard touchdown run of his own, showcasing his versatility. Kicker Daniel Carlson sealed the deal with a 29-yard field goal in the fourth quarter, making it 34-7. Herbert connected with rookie Ladd McConkey late in the fourth for a consolation touchdown.
“We came out and executed,” said Carney. “The offensive line gave us great protection, and our defense played lights out.”
