Nashville, TN — The defending 2K Online Franchise champions, Tennessee Titans, kicked off the season against their rival, the New England Patriots. Coach Nole and his Titans have dominated the Patriots in the two previous meetings by at least a 20+ point margin.
However, the outcome was different this time as the Patriots were able to survive in Tennessee with a 16-13 victory. Expectations were met as these two teams slugged through the game with one last play that decided the outcome. Patriots’ 1st round draft pick, CB Donald Hanna, came through with the clutch of a game ending interception from Titans’ Marcus Mariota.
Despite some struggles at times, Tom Brady made key throws when the Patriots needed them the most. Brady threw for 238 yards, completed 18 of 26, threw one interception and finished the night with a quarterback rating of 79.1.
Coach Nguyen’s press conference:
Great team win today. What better way to make a statement against the defending champions that you’ve previously went 0-2? Everyone contributed to this victory and I couldn’t be more proud. I’m also proud of our rookies, especially Donald. He showed everyone why our organization drafted him with our first pick.
As for injuries, Gronk will be out for at least a month with broken ribs. He’s going to be missed because he’s a special tight end that can do it all… catch, block, and a team captain. His presence can’t be duplicated but we’re going to do our best.
When questioned about Brady’s status as the team’s starter…
Brady played fine. Yeah there were two costly turnovers, but he came through in the end when we needed him.
Coach Nole’s press conference was short and to the point.
Just a tough loss at home… I’ll just drive forward and address the injuries to our two starters. Delanie Walker is out for 27 weeks with a pectoral tear and Antone Smith is out for 6 weeks with dislocated elbow. It’s just an obstacle that we’re going to have to overcome. We’re going to preach the “next man up” and just continue the season.
On whether if CJ2K is back in the starting lineup…
No. We’re sticking to our decision of disciplining him and we will have a new starter by next week.
Tennessee Titans just inquired Patriots’ former rookie RB, Julliam Linder.
Overall record against the two coaches:
Coach Nole leads the head-to-head record with a 2-1.
