Salem, OR — You may have noticed that trying to get online to play Madden NFL 17 is not working, that’s because EA has been a victim of a DDoS attack. What is a DDoS attack? It is *A distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack occurs when multiple systems flood the bandwidth or resources of a targeted system, usually one or more web servers. Such an attack is often the result of multiple compromised systems (for example, a botnet) flooding the targeted system with traffic.
The hacker group known as PoodleCorp is believed to be behind the attack. They are also responsible for taking down Pokemon Go, Xbox Live and the Playstation Network, just to name a few. EA is currently working on trying to restore service across all titles and we’ll update you once EA provides an update.
EA servers were toasted real good tonight. #poodlecorp @Gh0stPoodle had a blast

[Update] EA servers were back up momentarily, but are down once again. This seems like it will be an ongoing cycle throughout the day.
