MINNEAPOLIS, MN — The Dallas Cowboys remained undefeated with a dominant 33-20 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night, handing the Vikings their first loss of the season. Behind an efficient performance from Dak Prescott, a strong rushing effort from Aaron Jones, and a clutch defensive showing, the Cowboys controlled the game from start to finish and improved to 4-0.
Game Recap
Dallas set the tone early, striking first late in the opening quarter when Aaron Jones powered into the end zone on a 2-yard touchdown run to give the Cowboys a 7-0 lead. The momentum carried into the second quarter as Dak Prescott took command, leading back-to-back touchdown drives. He first connected with Jalen Tolbert for a 4-yard touchdown before delivering a 20-yard scoring pass to Danny Dansby, extending the Cowboys’ lead to 21-0. The Vikings responded just before halftime when rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy found tight end T.J. Hockenson for a 2-yard touchdown, but Dallas answered in the final seconds of the half with a 21-yard field goal from Brandon Aubrey to take a 24-7 lead into the break.
Minnesota attempted to climb back into the game in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 24-14 when fullback C.J. Ham powered his way into the end zone on a 10-yard run. However, the Cowboys’ defense clamped down, limiting Minnesota’s offensive rhythm. Another field goal from Brandon Aubrey, this time from 23 yards, pushed Dallas’ lead to 27-14 heading into the fourth quarter.
Aubrey continued his stellar night with a 45-yard field goal early in the final period, stretching the Cowboys’ lead to 30-14. The Vikings tried to rally late, with J.J. McCarthy scrambling for a 5-yard touchdown run, but a failed two-point conversion kept them from closing the gap any further. Any hopes of a Minnesota comeback were dashed when Brandon Aubrey connected on his fourth field goal of the night, an 18-yarder with just over a minute left, sealing the Cowboys’ 33-20 victory.
