DENVER, CO — The Denver Broncos continued their surge with a 17-10 victory over the previously undefeated Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders came into the game as one of the hottest teams in the league with a 4-0 record, but Denver’s defense and Javonte Williams’ big performance on the ground secured their third straight win. Next week, the Raiders will remain on the road to take on the Washington Commanders, while the Broncos will stay home to face the New York Giants.

Game Recap

The first quarter was a defensive battle, with neither team able to find the scoreboard. Denver struck first in the second quarter when Williams broke free for a 34-yard rushing touchdown. The Raiders responded with a 40-yard field goal from Daniel Carlson to cut the lead to 7-3. Just before halftime, Patrick Surtain II intercepted Trent Carney and returned it 26 yards for a touchdown, giving the Broncos a 14-3 lead at the break.

The second half saw more defensive dominance from both sides. Denver extended their lead with a 43-yard field goal from Jason Sanders in the third quarter. The Raiders managed to find the end zone late in the fourth quarter when Tre Tucker caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Aidan O’Connell, but it was too little, too late as Denver held on for the win.

Key Stats

Williams was the difference-maker, rushing for 123 yards and a touchdown on just 13 carries, including two runs of over 20 yards. O’Connell replaced Carney in the second half and finished 9-of-16 for 104 yards and a touchdown. Carney struggled, completing 11-of-20 passes for 134 yards and two interceptions. Brock Bowers led the Raiders with five catches for 70 yards, while Courtland Sutton paced the Broncos’ receiving corps with three catches for 46 yards.

Denver’s defense was dominant, recording four sacks and forcing two interceptions. Surtain’s pick-six was the highlight, but Baron Browning and Cody Barton each recorded a sack to keep constant pressure on the Raiders’ quarterbacks.
