After being labeled as the “Game of the Week” title, the showdown between the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers lived up to the expectations. Note that this was also a rematch from last season’s Divisional bout where the Patriots knocked the Steelers out of the playoffs and therefore, Coach James and his Steelers were really focused and wanted to avenge their previous loss.
Colin Kaepernick was flawless, almost recording a perfect passing rating of 144.3. The second year pro went 11/13 for 221 yards, a TD, and completed 84% of his passes. He stunned the Patriots early on the game after leading his team to 21-10 after their first possession of the second half.
Coach Sean praised Ben Roethlisberger for his resiliency. “Big Ben was constantly backed into a corner after being behind in score the majority of the game. He showed leadership and brought his team back on track. We’re all proud of him and I hope everyone knows what he is capable of now. Big props to Coach James though. He definitely improved and I am looking forward to meeting him and his team in the playoffs again.”
Ben Roethlisberger went 19/31 for 339 yards and 3 TD’s. Big Ben was asked about his return and how he felt. “It was great seeing my old team again. After throwing passes to players in a Steelers uniform for so long, I had to try not to throw the ball to the opposing team’s defensive backs. It was fun and I definitely miss them but it’s part of the business. We both moved on and I really wish them the best.”
Ladies and gentlemen, I think we have a new rivalry in the AFC division.
