Newton suffers injury in win over Saints

Charlotte, N.C.- A day after their huge road victory against the rival New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers head coach Mark Miller gave us an update on how his star QB Cam Newton was feeling after he was removed for one series following a massive sack by Saints star lineman Cameron Jordan, who seemingly came in untouched has he blew past right guard Trai Turner for the sack.

“Ya, it definitely made me nervous when I saw Cam stay down on the ground, but it turned out to be nothing too serious, just a high ankle sprain, as you all saw. He only took one drive off and was able to go back in and lead us to a major victory last night.” said coach Miller.

That’s good news for the Panthers and coach Miller doesn’t seem to concerted about his availability in week 2 vs the New York Giants.

“We’re probably going to take it easy on him these next couple practices in hopes that he can ramp it up closer to the end of the week to be ready for week 2. We fully expect Cam to start, unless something unforeseen happens soon. He’s the type of player that doesn’t need a full weeks’ worth of practice to go out there on Sunday and dominate an opponent.”

So, for now count on SuperCam to lead the charge out there next Sunday, and of course if anything happens we’ll let you know as soon as we find out.

Cam goes down with an ankle injury midway in the third quarter, later to return on the next drive.
