Redskins spoil Giants Thanksgiving with unbelievable winLandover, MD — Just when you think the season for the New York Giants can’t get any worse, just when it looked like they were about to get their second win of the season, the G-Men once again found themselves on the losing side. This time it wasn’t because Eli Manning played a bad game. Manning completed 19 out of 28 passes, for 289 yards, his highest this season, threw one touchdown and had zero interceptions for the first time since week 2 against the Detroit Lions. But, even that was not enough to get a win on this Thanksgiving night.

The Giants dominated the Washington Redskins in the first half, thanks to an excellent defensive performance. But, it was Odell Beckham Jr who got the Giants on the scoreboard first on a 75 yard play in the first minute of the 2nd quarter, then with 3 seconds left in the half the Giants would again score 3 more to take a 10 to zero lead. The Giants defense allowed just 2 passing yards in the first half, a new franchise record and only 7 rushing yards, another franchise record.

The second half began well for the Giants as they forced a three and out to start the quarter. The Redskins however, managed to get on the board late in the quarter after a 42 yard field goal by kicker Dustin Hopkins.

With the lead down to 7 the Giants began the 4th by moving the ball up the field. They managed to get to the Redskins 36 yard line before getting stopped on 3rd and 6th. The stop was big for the Redskins since Giants kicker Aldrick Rosas would go on to miss a 53 yard field goal attempt. The field goal missed sparked the Redskins offense as they made play after play and seven plays later they found themselves on the 2 yard line. The Giants held their ground on 3rd and goal from the two yard line, which forced the Redskins to take a gamble on 4th down with 3:16 left in the game. The gamble paid off as HB Robert Kelly got into the end zone, untouched, for his 8th touchdown of the year and the Redskins first of the night.  Following the successful point after try, the game was all tied up 10-10.

Following the kickoff, the Giants began their drive on their own 27 yard line with 2:40 left in the game. The first play of the drive got them 12 yards, followed by a rush for no gain that took the clock down to the two minute warning. Coming out of the two minute warning the Giants managed to get up the field, to the Redskins 26 yard line, on just three plays. Giants wide receiver Tavarres King made a key catch to get the Giants within 6 yards of the red zone, forcing the Redskins to take a timeout with 1:12 remaining in the game.

Redskins corner back Fabian Moreau blocks Giants field goal try to win the game.

Following the timeout the Giants ran two rushing plays, which got them to the 19 yard line and forced the Redskins to use their last two time outs. With 64 seconds remaining the Giants rushed the ball one more time on 3rd down to get the ball to the center of the field. Setting up a 36 yard field goal on 4th down. Hopkins came out for the field goal, the time clock was counting down and with 24 seconds left the Giants  snap holder and back up QB Davis Webb, gets the ball puts it down for Hopkins to kick, when out of the right side of the field corner back Fabian Moreau comes flying through the air and blocks Hopkin’s kick. The ball is then picked up by corner back Kendall Fuller and he was off to the races taking it 73 yards back for a touchdown! The Giants were stunned, they could not believe what had just transpired. All that was left was to try a hail mary and hope someone would answer, unfortunately for the Giants, no one did.

Thus, this one ended in the most heart breaking way possible for the Giants, a team that has just one win this season.
